The brief
This study imagines an elevated coastal apartment for clients who want to live with a changing collection of original art and sculptural furniture in an atmosphere that remains soft, practical and distinctly residential.

Design intelligence
The bright shell had limited display walls, reflective daylight and no meaningful transition between entry and main living space. Repeating pale finishes without contrast would have made the collection feel color-matched rather than personally assembled.
BN2 needed to preserve long coastal views while creating appropriate wall moments, comfortable viewing distances and circulation that would not cut through the principal seating composition. Strong South Florida light also required protection, diffusion and carefully controlled art illumination.
A restrained sequence of bleached-oak portals and chalky plaster surfaces now guides arrival, conceals storage and creates calibrated backdrops. The palette moves from luminous daytime rooms to a deeper evening salon, allowing distinct works to hold their own character without fragmenting the residence.
BN2 developed the arrival portals, low art-storage walls, integrated kitchen ventilation, monolithic island, concealed salon bar, floating media composition, bedside cabinetry and tailored vanities as one family of precise architectural elements.
Material logic
Bleached oak and pale limestone manage strong daylight; parchment, linen and bouclé soften acoustics; brushed pewter and smoked glass introduce cooler precision. Charcoal plaster, figured wood and one ink-blue mohair note give the pale architecture measured depth.

Coordination
The study integrates furniture planning, distinct art locations, museum-quality lighting intent, millwork, window treatments, material reflectance and lighting scenes, with conservation and specialist input anticipated for significant works.
