A sun-washed retreat shaped by dunes, texture, and ease.
This study explores a low-maintenance family beach house that can welcome wet feet, weekend guests and long meals while retaining an architectural sense of calm.

What the design needed to resolve.
The spatial challenge
The design had to keep paths to terraces and bedrooms clear, create useful zones beneath the high ceiling and avoid placing tall elements where they would interrupt the dunes and horizon.
What changed
Weathered-oak elements bring the tall rooms to human scale, and low furniture preserves the long view. Woven texture and plaster soften the architecture without relying on literal coastal motifs.
Custom decisions
BN2 developed the kitchen, media cabinetry, window seating and bedroom storage around durable finishes, concealed equipment and simple details that can tolerate frequent use.
Material logic
Selected for character, light and use.
Sandy limestone and weathered oak are forgiving in bright coastal light; washed linen and cane add breathability and texture; blackened bronze provides definition where pale materials meet.

Coordination
What BN2 brings together.
The study coordinates furniture clearances, custom cabinetry, lighting, stone, textiles and indoor-outdoor transitions, with an emphasis on durable placement and easy seasonal opening and closing.

The result
The house feels open but not exposed, relaxed but not themed. Storage absorbs the practical evidence of beach life, and the principal rooms retain a direct visual connection to the dunes.
